When I said goodbye to her, she didn't know what was going on. She was just watching me. I'll always remember, I put her down and she went to the window and watched me leave, with her face against the glass. When I got outside, I broke down sobbing. Leaving her in the orphanage, watching me leave--how many other faces are watching for someone, and they never come?
